About US

Established in 2022

Welcome to 1864- a cozy restaurant in one of the oldest buildings in downtown Alexandria Bay. Our restaurant was opened on the foundation of a few great friendships with a shared love and appreciation for the history of the Thousand Islands and the St. Lawrence River. From this adoration, our name was born. ‘1864’ derives from the number of islands in existence in the Thousand Islands. Within our menu, a fun play on words can be found in several of our menu items!

Our menu changes with the seasons! In the summer you’ll be met with a fun and unique brunch menu complete with bottomless mimosas and picture-worthy bloody marys; a full lunch menu consisting of fresh grain bowls, our famous fish tacos, and freshly pattied burgers; and a dinner menu that exhibits our chef’s culinary excellence in his vast offerings of hand-trimmed steaks and one-of-a-kind pasta dishes. Whether spring, summer, winter or fall, you’ll always be provided with an extensive offering of artisanal cocktails that pair not only with the season, but the menu as well!

While the building usage has gone through various transformations over the years, today you can find diners and river enthusiasts alike enjoying an expertly prepared meal on our patio, often accompanied by an acoustic artist in the corner serenading our guests. Providing our guests with a memorable experience and full bellies is our mission when you visit 1864.

My first visit to Alexandria Bay was with my residents. We had a very large (about 42 people) group of staff and developmentally disabled and or handicapped residents. We had been there all day boat tour, Boldt Castle and all. We placed a call and 1864 was AMAZING at accommodating everyone outdoors with and without wheelchairs including residents and staff with seafood allergies without question! The staff was inviting and so friendly and personable! The food was absolutely

Always a great meal and great service! Our bartender Hayden was great! He definitely knows how to served and go the extra mile to serve his patrons! A definite reccomend to enjoy good service, great food and a very relaxing, welcoming atmosphere!
